Since the last three years Standard Chartered, the official sponsor, leaves its vast role in patronizing to up the level of school cricket. To-day in a press conference in BCB auditorium, all the media men were called on to attend it where the President of Bangladesh Cricket Board, Mr. Saber Chowdhury and the Managing Director of Standard Chartered Mr. M.A. Ali speaks of the good terms which is intensifying as the days progress. Addressing the journalists Mr. Saber Hussain Chowdhury renders the Standard Chartered Bank as the patron of Bangladesh School Cricket. He said the level of the kid's cricket would not be heightened if such provisions were not available. He gave a data that says that in session the number of participants in School Cricket was 562 where as, it has increased to 903 in the session 2000-2001; which the president phrased as outstanding development because 57 districts are now the active participants of this tournament.
Mr. Ali in his oration said that he and his bank are happy to be a part of the reason behind the progress of the country's cricket. The amount of money that they are now affording is BD Taka 1.8 million that is more than double than the amount they provided in 98-99 sessions.
After the speeches, the journalists from different medias began to question the President on the poor sense of duty of BCB who are allegedly less concerned in giving sports details to the medias. The accusation was defended by the President saying that BCB, from now on will sent the match results and other sports related information directly to the media head offices through e-mails.
