Tamim Iqbal batted in the nets and trained with national side during their World Cup preparatory camp in Brisbane on Thursday, as he looks to regain full fitness after suffering a knee injury in December. Tamim had undergone knee surgery in Melbourne last month and arrived in Brisbane on Wednesday, after consulting with Dr David Young over his rehabilitation.
"Tamim trained with the team today," Khaled Mahmud, the Bangladesh team manager, said on phone from Brisbane. "He warmed up with the team and also took part in the net session. He didn't do the sprint session but it is a matter of time before he does that too."
Tamim took a third dose of platela-rich plasma (PRP) injection on Tuesday, before joining his team-mates in Brisbane. He had suffered the injury to his left knee - a grade one tear on his meniscus - while playing in the Dhaka Premier Division and underwent surgery on December 29.
Before his departure for Australia, Tamim had said he was confident of joining the camp on January 29. He had played pace bowling in the nets in Bangladesh, apart from taking throwdowns and facing a bowling machine. Tamim hopes to be fit for at least one of the two practice matches - on February 3 and 5 - before the warm-up matches against Pakistan and Ireland on February 9 and 12 respectively.
