The result of today's game between Grahamstown and Free State in the SA
Country Districts Cricket Competition will decide if we see two Eastern
Province Country teams play each other in the final of this competition.
This will be the first time in history that two Eastern Province teams face
each other in this competition.
Grahamstown played in the finals for the past seven years in this national
cricket competition.
Midlands and Grahamstown, two of the cricket teams of the Eastern Province,
competing in the competition, will be in the SA Country Districts Cricket
Competition Final in Pietersburg, if Grahamstown wins the game against Free
State today.
The competition started last Saturday and will be ending tomorrow.
(Wednesday). This year a team from Zimbabwe is also competing in this
competition. Every team has to play 3 League games and two Friendlies.
The Midland team, consisting of players from the Cradock and Graaff-Reinet
regions, that is one of the contesters in the final, defeated Boland,
Griekwas, Gauteng, Border and Northerns in the league section and they will
play Zimbabwe today and Easterns tomorrow for their friendly games.
Grahamstown played against Kwazulu-Natal, Easterns, Northerns, and Zimbabwe
and will play against Free state today. A win against Free State will ensure
two Eastern Province teams in the final.
