UP complete innings victory

Uttar Pradesh did not falter in completing a 235 run victory over Saurashtra in their Ranji Trophy Super League group C match at the Municipal corporation ground in Rajkot on Monday. The victory was achieved with more than a day to spare.

Saurashtra were in a pretty hopeless situation when play resumed this morning. Chasing an unlikely victory target of 389, they were 39 for three. AW Zaidi and Gyanendra Pandey brought the innings to an end at 153. Some semblance of defiance was provided by skipper Sitanshu Kotak (32) and H Parsana (41). Zaidi was in devastating form taking six for 42 while Pandey had three for 44.

With this victory, UP now have 19 points from three matches to bounce back into contention for a place in the knock out stage. Their last match is against Tamil Nadu. Saurashtra completed a disappointing Super League campaign with eight points from four games.
