'We are putting up a good fight'says Shine as Cidermen face an uphill struggle at Edgbaston

Somerset's overnight batsmen, Rob Turner and Keith Dutch face an uphill struggle if they are to get a result from their match against Warwickshire at Edgbaston tomorrow.

When the Cidermen resume in the morning they will require a further 198 from a minimum of 95 overs with just four second innings wicket remaining.

Earlier today Somerset captured the remaining five Warwickshire wickets for the addition of 187 runs to make their second innings total 423, leaving themselves chasing a massive 446 from 157 overs.

Somerset openers Piran Holloway(28) and Matt Wood (32) put on 48, and then Mike Burns scored his second half century against his old club, before he was dismissed for 54 with the score on 123 for 3.

The Cidermen lost Peter Bowler (16) and Keith Parsons (16) and had reached 162 for 5, before Ian Blackwell and Rob Turner came together. The pair then moved the score along and added 77 for the sixth wicket before Blackwell was out with the score on 239 for a hard hit 64.

Keith Dutch came in to join Rob Turner, and between them they saw the score to 248 without further loss.

After the close of play Somerset coach Kevin Shine told me: "This was another tough day for us. They batted well this morning to get a decent score, but it was a great effort from Steffan Jones to get ten wickets in the match, and thoroughly deserved, especially as he bowled a lot of `Johnno's ` overs as well."

He continued: "When we batted we started off well then wickets started to fall. But we are putting up a good fight which is what I want to see."
