West Indies v India, 2005-06

West Indies v India, 2005-06

At Port-of-Spain, May 26, 2006. West Indies won by six wickets. Toss: West Indies.
The Trini Posse kept celebrating as two local boys, both from Santa Cruz, starred in the seriessealing triumph. While Lara guided the chase with a sparkling 69, Bravo provided the thrust, following up his three wickets with an energetic 61. Edwards had blended speed with accuracy, while the other bowlers thrived on a pitch that offered variable bounce and significant turn. Three of the Indians passed 40, but, as in the previous game, none could locate the accelerator. Bravo's slower balls continued to do their job and, though India had seven wickets in hand, they could muster only 98 in the last 20 overs. Gayle began the pursuit assertively, but it was Lara's mastery against spin on a wearing track that swung the momentum his side's way, and his 91-run stand with Bravo settled the series, West Indies' first significant one-day success since the Champions Trophy in England in 2004.
Man of the Match: D. J. Bravo.
