Will it be another last over/last ball finish for Hampshire?

If this season's track record is anything to go by, Hampshire Cricket will be gearing themselves up for another tight finish at their floodlit Day/Night game against Northants on Wednesday (30th July, 2003) at the Rose Bowl.

Whether victorious or vanquished, the Hampshire Cricket squad have won a reputation for engineering the tightest of match finishes this season. With last over or last ball deciders in the Twenty20 Cup matches, the National League and last week's fantastic Championship match win against Glamorgan having followed on - the Hawks are all set for some floodlit fun and real excitement.

And it looks like being a close call since both the Hampshire Hawks and the Northants Steelbacks are currently at the top of the League and gunning for promotion. Hampshire are the only side to have beaten the Steelbacks this season, so Wednesday's match looks like being a real tussle for the top.

"For anyone who enjoyed the excitement of the Twenty20 evenings, Wednesday's Day/Night game is definitely a must," said Nick Pike, managing director at the Rose Bowl. "With the close call for the top position plus our programme of music, entertainment and fireworks, this will be an evening to remember."

The gates open at 2pm and the 1st innings start at 4.10pm with an expected finish time of 10.20pm. Tickets are £16 for adults, £12 for senior citizens and £6 for the under 18's and are available from the ticket line on 0870 243 0291. A Park and Ride facility is also being operated from Junction 8 on the M27.
