Westerns suffered a blow in their bid to maintain their winning streak in the Logan Cup after Sean Williams pulled out of the squad ahead of their match against Northerns at Harare Sports Club starting today.
Williams, who is averaging 67 in the competition, said a specialist had advised him not to play cricket at the moment and Romeo Kasawaya is expected to be his replacement in the starting line-up. Westerns will now need to rely on Charles Coventry and Tinashe Hove in the batting department whilst skipper Keith Dabengwa and John Nyumbu are expected to continue their sublime form with the ball.
Northerns are boosted by the return of Brendan Taylor, who has not played for his province since returning from the World Cup. Reasons for his absence have not officially been given. Allrounder Elton Chigumbura may miss the match due to suspension after reportedly knocking over the stumps after his dismissal in his side's seven-wicket loss to Centrals at Kwekwe Sports Club last weekend.
