† AUSTRALIA v NEW ZEALAND 1980-81

At Sydney, November 25. Australia won by 94 runs. Australia soon made amends for their defeat in Adelaide, a brilliant innings by Greg Chappell being chiefly responsible. Chappell, the Man of the Match, was helped in a splendid second-wicket partnership of 151 in 28 overs by Dyson, who again batted well. Chappell"s footwork as he came down the pitch to drive, often making room to play the ball through the covers, was superb. A target of 290 was always likely to be beyond New Zealand"s capabilities. Edgar and Howarth both batted well, but Australia"s seam bowling never allowed the later batsmen any liberties.
