†AUSTRALIA v WEST INDIES 1984-85

At Sydney, January 15 (day/night). West Indies won by five wickets. After Border had elected to bat, Wessels's slowness (out for 63 in the 39th over) and crucial run-outs again hampered Australia's effort. McDermott, generating great speed, dismissed Haynes and Gomes in the same over and Lawson then had Richardson lbw, but Border took McDermott off after six overs, Richards plundered O'Donnell, and the result was never in doubt after that. Richards's hundred, from 122 balls, included one 6 and eight 4s and was his eighth in one-day internationals.

Man of the Match: I. V. A. Richards. Attendance: 45,779.
