BANGLADESH v INDIA

At Sharjah, April 5. India won by nine wickets. Toss: Bangladesh. International debuts: Anis-ur-Rahman, Khaled Masud, Mohammad Javed, Mohammad Rafiq, Sajjad Ahmed; U. Chatterjee.

Bangladesh's tenth full international, and their first since December 1990, ended in their tenth defeat. India had more than 22 overs in hand when they overhauled a modest 163, and lost only Tendulkar. He had already dazzled the crowd, dashing to 48 in 31 balls thanks to nine fours and a six. Sidhu then took up the charge, with 56 in 51 balls, while Prabhakar played the anchor role. When Bangladesh batted, Ather Ali Khan hit his first ball for four, but only Amin-ul-Islam reached 30 before he was caught at long leg off Chatterjee, the 30-year-old debutant left-armer.

Man of the Match: M. Prabhakar.
