South Africa took the one-day series despite beginning disastrously when they slipped to 68 for six in the 23rd over. Benkenstein, hitting just two fours in his 69, and Boucher then repaired the innings with a seventh-wicket stand of 62. Klusener, scoring at customary speed, and Benkenstein then set a record South African eighth-wicket partnership of 91. The last five overs of the innings yielded 55 as Klusener hit three sixes. West Indies reached 67 for one in the 20th over before capitulating in now familiar fashion; Cronje took three for ten in nine overs.
