Meril International Tournament 1998-99, fifth match

Bangladesh v Kenya

At Dhaka, March 24 (day/night). Kenya won by 73 runs. Toss: Kenya.

Several hundred disgruntled fans demonstrated outside the Bangladesh Cricket Board offices after the home team lost their third match in a row - and with it any chance of reaching the final. The difference between the two teams was the batting of Otieno, who hit eight fours and six sixes in his 120. Bangladesh's faint hopes of overhauling Kenya's 231 lived on only while Akram Khan was batting. Eighteen-year-old left-arm spinner Mohammad Sheikh was the main beneficiary as Bangladesh crashed from 146 for five to 158 all out.

Man of the Match: K. O. Otieno.
