Another day, another West Indian collapse. For the third successive match their last five wickets crumpled for less than 20. This defeat was, again, their heaviest by runs, beating their loss by 130 against Pakistan five days earlier. To reach the final, West Indies had to win, but that never seemed likely; Pakistan had won their last five meetings, and had hit impressive form. To make matters worse, Ambrose had a hand injury and did not play. For Pakistan, yet another precocious talent, 17-year-old Hasan Raza, compiled a measured 77, and Yousuf Youhana cut loose at the end: his unbeaten 71, with four sixes and three fours, spanned 46 balls as Pakistan plundered 99 from the last ten overs. At 92 for three in the 20th over, West Indies were just about on course. Then Azhar Mahmood clicked into gear. Swinging the ball both ways, he ended with a career-best six for 18, then the seventh-best return in limited-overs internationals.
