Pakistan v South Africa 1999-2000

At Sharjah, March 24 (day/night). South Africa won by three wickets. Toss: Pakistan.

Pakistan suffered their seventh consecutive defeat in one-day internationals - and their 14th in succession against South Africa, going back to January 1995. Both sides were below full strength, with Wasim Akram, Shoaib Akhtar and Pollock all unfit. But Pakistan put up a fight this time. Imran Nazir and Younis Khan added 115 for the second wicket, though a little too slowly, before Klusener struck four times in 11 balls, finishing with five wickets in a single ten-over spell. South Africa had to chase 197, but their reply looked shaky after some early strikes from Waqar Younis. Boje, coming in at 136 for six, won back the initiative with 35 from 42 balls.

Man of the Match: L. Klusener.
