LG Abans Triangular Series, match 5

Sri Lanka v West Indies

At Kandy, December 15. Sri Lanka won by eight wickets. Sri Lanka 4 pts. Toss: Sri Lanka. Lara was left writhing in pain with a dislocated left elbow after he accidentally collided with Atapattu while attempting a quick single. He was stretchered off, just when he had settled after a cautious start; initial treatment was promising, but two days later a hairline fracture was discovered, forcing him out of the rest of the tour. Only Ganga, with his third consecutive fifty, and Hooper came to terms with the spin attack, and a target of 236 was little challenge to Sri Lanka's in-form batsmen. To the delight of a packed, noisy crowd, Jayawardene reached the hundred he had narrowly missed three days earlier. He faced just 94 balls, and shared an unbroken stand of 187 in 31 overs with Atapattu to complete another comfortable win.

Man of the Match: D. P. M. D. Jayawardene.
