Second One-Day International

West Indies v Bangladesh

Fazeer Mohammed

At St Vincent, May 16, 2004. West Indies won by 23 runs. Toss: Bangladesh.

West Indies completed only their second series win in the last nine one-day competitions at home. Torrential showers delayed the start, leaving 25 overs a side, and West Indies reached 124 for seven, despite an excellent spell from Tapash Baisya, who took four wickets; Dwayne Smith, the hard-hitting all-rounder, was dropped on 25 and went on to smash an unbeaten 62. Bangladesh needed five an over, but the raw pace of Edwards and Best proved too much. Bradshaw again showed his effectiveness as a first-change, Bangladesh slid to 39 for five in the 12th over, and only battling innings from Hannan Sarkar and Manjural Islam Rana delayed the inevitable.

Man of the Match: D. R. Smith.
