Torrential rain washed out this game after little more than an hour's play. Put in, Sri Lanka had done well, with Jayasuriya's unbeaten 63 from 61 balls leading the way. They made a flying start: Zaheer Khan's first over included a leg-side wide that went to the boundary as well as two crisply driven fours from Tharanga. Patel removed Tharanga for 14 and Jayawardene fourth ball, but by then the sky was filling in ominously.
