If England at last managed to provide a proper contest, their fractious attitude towards their opponents and each other was the enduring memory of a game that clinched the series for India. It was pointedly condemned in the aftermath by Dhoni, who once more played a key role in seeing India home when it looked as though they might struggle. But when Dhoni assumed control, England's fielding grew as unruly as their tempers, with Kieswetter - who trod on the stumps while trying to run out Jadeja - especially culpable.
