3rd ODI, Centurion

India v South Africa, 2013-14

At Centurion, December 11, 2013 (day/night). No result. Toss: South Africa.

De Kock joined Zaheer Abbas, Saeed Anwar, Herschelle Gibbs and A. B. de Villiers as the only players to have scored centuries in three successive one-day internationals. He was also the second, after Ireland's Paul Stirling, to score four hundreds before his 21st birthday (which he celebrated six days later). This time, he prospered despite South Africa's early collapse to 28 for three. He and de Villiers took on the responsibility of righting the innings in a stand of 171, a South African fourth wicket record against India. The partnership endured into the 38th over, when de Kock went for 101, while de Villiers stayed until the 44th for his 109. He and Miller ramped up the scoring-rate in a stand of 53 at more than nine an over, with Miller hitting his unbeaten 56 off 34 balls. Ishant Sharma alone countered de Kock, claiming four wickets, but it all came to nought during the supper break, when a thunderstorm drowned out any prospect of further play. Sharma brightened a dismal evening by telling reporters de Kock had been "lucky" to score his three centuries.
Man of the Series: Q. de Kock.
