When Australia reached 95 for one after 20 overs, it seemed all the talk of Jaipur as a batting paradise had been overblown. But in the 73.3 overs that followed, the two sides plundered 626 runs and rewrote countless records. All of Australia's top five made half-centuries, the first time any side had managed this in a one-day international - with Watson, Bailey and Maxwell especially brutal. India's seamers dropped too short, and Jadeja proved unusually costly. But if the Australian innings was entertaining, the fare dished out by India's top three belonged in the blockbuster category. Rohit Sharma batted from start to finish, ending a sequence of 57 innings without a hundred - enough to hush at least some of his critics. Dhawan was put down on 18, when a steepling catch popped out of Haddin's gloves, and he traded punch for punch with Sharma during an opening stand of 176 in 26 overs. Then came Kohli, who walked in with 184 still needed, hit four of his first 17 deliveries for six, and leapt to a 52-ball century - the fastest for India. It was his 16th one-day hundred, his tenth in a successful run-chase, and it allowed the Indians to knock off a 300-plus target against Australia for the first time.
