If there has been a bigger disintegration in one-day cricket, history failed to record it. Australia needed 44 off 18 deliveries, when Ishant Sharma served up an over of length balls and half-trackers, crunched for 30 by Faulkner, who - accompanied by Voges - could then take it easy in Ashwin's next. With nine needed from the last over, bowled by Vinay Kumar, Dhoni placed all four of his fielders permitted outside the circle on the leg side, but a full toss meant Faulkner was able to clear them all, finishing with 64 not out from 29 balls and a gleeful punch of the air. Earlier, Dhoni's knack of resurrecting an innings was sorely needed by India after Kohli proved the only specialist batsman able to cope with Johnson's searing pace and bounce. Dhoni had hurt his knee before even facing a ball, but shrugged off the pain to strike all five of his side's sixes in an undefeated 139 from 121 deliveries, the first one-day century for India at Mohali. After Bailey put down a skyer with 12 balls to go, Dhoni pillaged another 34, with Faulkner bearing the brunt of it. A few hours later, he took his revenge.
