Victor Nyauchi

A right-arm fast bowler with a bustling run-up and whippy action, Victor Nyauchi toiled away in the Zimbabwe domestic set-up for close to six years before finally breaking through.

His first stint in domestic cricket was with Mashonaland Eagles, where he played four List A games during the 2013-14 Pro50 season. But the next season, he moved to Mountaineers, where he made his first-class debut in the 2014-15 Logan Cup. He has been with them since.

Nyauchi was consistent at Mountaineers in both red- and white-ball formats and soon made his Zimbabwe A debut in a List A game against Bangladesh A in November 2015. He bagged two wickets there and was picked for two four-day games against the same opponents a few days later, where he finished as the second-highest wicket-taker in the series with eight strikes.

He remained on the fringes of the senior side for the next few years, playing games against Pakistan A, South Africa A and Afghanistan A, and also finished the 2017-18 Logan Cup as the second-highest wicket-taker with 31 wickets in eight games.

Nyauchi finally got his international debut in a Test against Sri Lanka in January 2020 where he picked up three wickets in his first bowling innings. In May 2022, Nyauchi made his T20I debut against Namibia while his ODI debut came a couple of months later against Bangladesh.
