Mahbubul Anam has resigned as general secretary of the Bangladesh Cricket Board and he said that further resignations are likely to follow.
It had been expected that the country's caretaker government would disband the entire BCB executive but it seems that many are jumping before they are pushed.
Anam's decision came as no surprise. "The government wants to reform the board. I am also in favour of the reform," he told The Daily Star. "I decided to pave the way for change. The other members of the board are also quitting and they are expected to send their resignation letters individually,"
The BCB executive has been widely criticised in recent years and there have even been allegations of electoral mismanagement.
"The BCB president informed me that he has accepted Mahbub Anam's resignation," Aminul Islam Khan, the secretary of the National Sports Council told the newspaper. "We will try to avoid a vacuum and name a new committee within the next two days. It might be even tomorrow."
