CLEAR Black Caps delay arrival in Pakistan

In the light of overnight events in the United States, New Zealand Cricket Chief Executive Martin Snedden has decided to delay the arrival of the CLEAR Black Caps in Pakistan.

The team is currently in transit in Singapore and was due to depart for Karachi at 2pm this afternoon (NZ time). They will now remain in Singapore for at least the next 48 hours. This will give New Zealand Cricket further time to determine whether there would be any risk to the safety of the team members if they were to continue as planned with the tour of Pakistan.

"New Zealand Cricket has this morning communicated both with team management in Singapore and with the Foreign Affairs Department in New Zealand," Mr Snedden said.

"Given the current upheaval in international aviation, and the heightened tensions in the Middle East, we believe the extended stopover in Singapore is wise.

"If there is any risk that the team members would be in danger in Pakistan then New Zealand Cricket will not hesitate to cancel or postpone the tour," said Mr Snedden.

New Zealand Cricket will be communicating this decision to the Pakistan Cricket Board later today.
