Ishant Sharma, Shane Watson, Kevin Pietersen, Yuvraj Singh, Dale Steyn, Aaron Finch, Martin Guptill and Dwayne Smith have been listed as the eight marquee players in the IPL 2016 player auction which will be held on February 6 in Bangalore. A total of 351 players, including 230 Indian and 121 foreign cricketers, will go into the auction.

The shortlist of 351 players was trimmed down from a pool of 714 cricketers. Of the 351 players, 130 are capped, 219 are uncapped and two are Associate players. A maximum of 116 players can be chosen at the auction.

Ishant, Watson, Pietersen and Yuvraj are among 12 players with a base price of INR 2 crore (approx $296,000). Ashish Nehra, Dhawal Kulkarni, Sanju Samson, Dinesh Karthik and Stuart Binny are the other Indians with the same base price. Among overseas players, Michael Hussey, Kane Richardson and Mitchell Marsh have attracted the top reserve price.

Delhi Daredevils have the maximum funds remaining, INR 37.15 crore (approx. $5.47 million), having released 13 of their players from last year's squad including Yuvraj and Angelo Mathews. In 2015, Yuvraj was the most expensive buy for the second consecutive auction after the Daredevils raised the bid price to INR 16 crore ($2.3 million). Daredevils also paid INR 7.5 crore ($1.1 million) for Mathews.

Following is the purse remaining with the each of the other seven franchises:

Kings XI Punjab (INR 23 crore), Kolkata Knight Riders (INR 17.95 crore), Mumbai Indians (INR 14.405 crore), Royal Challengers Bangalore (INR 21.625 crore), Sunrisers Hyderabad (INR 30.15 crore), Rising Pune Super Giants (INR 27 crore), Rajkot (INR 27 crore)

A diehard KKR fan speaking here - the team itself looks very balanced though I would like KKR to pick some young talent at the auction perhaps like Pawan Negi or Deepak Hooda and a strong Indian pacer (really hoping for Ashish Nehra or Barinder Sran). Any one of those pacers, I'll be very happy with - I think a lot of KKR fans will be unhappy if we continue with Umesh Yadav who has not yet matured as a bowler yet. I don't really think we need any overseas players cuz we have an explosive lineup of Rusell, Lynn, Shakib, Narine and Hogg who are matchwinners on their day. Though I would like them to get one or two more overseas bargains like Colin Munro so that the other teams don't get their hands on him ;P

SRH can get 4 overseas players and need to fill up the "finisher/all-rounder, spinner, seamer" roles.

I'd go for Binny/Mathews/Neesham, Ojha/Tambe/Badree, Nehra/Mohit/Sran/Mustafizur to fill up these roles.

As KXIp fan I would love to have Indian batsman like Yuvi in the team.Imagine Maxwell,Miller and Yuvi in middle overs? He will fill the vacancy created by exit of Sehwag. As MJ has retired, Shane Watson will be perfect replacement as we need pacer all-rounder and an opener. He can open with Vohra and Vijay can sit out as he is hardly successful in T20. Dunno why KXIP let go Mandeep and bought Vijay? regarding bowling, either Nehra or Ishant or even better both should be bid higly by KXIP so we can have strong bowling attack as well. I hope Punjab do not go for DK or Samsun as they are not consistent. Even Kevin Peterson can be bid and be replaced with Bailey as captain and middle order batsman. Maxwell,KP,Miller,Yuvi will be some sight in IPL if that happens! All match winner on their own. My XI wl b- Vohra,Watson,Saha,Maxwell,Bailey/KP,Miller,Yuvi,Akshar patel, Awana,Sandeep,Nehra/Ishant. Poor Gurkeerat has to be sit on bench in my team or be replaced with Saha if latter out of form.
