All you RR fans there is one good news coming up to you. Ben cutting. The fast medium baller and a mighty big hitter of the ball. We have seen a glimpse of him in CLT last year and he swung the new ball well also hit few huge sixes. Best of luck RR

Watson should open with Samson. Smith should comes 1st down, and better if Faulkner comes next. If all 3 get out early, let Rahane & Karun repair the innings. Still RR go Binny, Kooper and Ankit to hit

  • POSTED BY on | May 15, 2014, 12:53 GMT

There were a few comments saying even if Dhoni got out Jadeja would have swung his bat and won the game Jaddu was able to hit and swing coz he knew Dhoni was at other end had he gotten out say in 18th over csk would have lost the game.Dhoni in crease or out makes the difference bear that in mind

@Srinivasan Devarajan There is a reason people are so confident about RR. 1. Making a team choke isn't an easy task. That was good bowling in both those games and some smart cricket like Smith's gentle dab for 2 in the super over that won RR the match. It just shows that they can handle the pressure better than KKR. 2. Umm, is that a disadvantage? There is a chance, but RR will probably end up at three. 3. It was a calculated change and did pay off for the most part. RR has a smart think tank, they don't just blindly experiment. 4. Cooper was bowling well and it really took someone like Dhoni to win it. Jadeja and Shankar would have struggled against Cooper's changes of pace. 5. KKR also heavily reliant on their openers. Should they fail, KKR could collapse again. Their middle order has no form or practice.

  • POSTED BY on | May 15, 2014, 12:31 GMT

Seems many RR dislikers around here each time they have been written off and still people dont seem to like this wonder why probably they dont have the stars which people want to see.KKR choked is that a mistake of RR RCB crumbled to 70 odd runs again mistake of RR comeon guys if the same is done by a star studded you will all bonkers wow what a performance.RR vs CSK and the experiments RR did they still got CSK to play till 20th over and took some class from Dhoni to finish the game.Give some credit guys with the resources they have and usp of the team they are performing real good and people who are saying RR cant make play off get facts right out of four games even one win would do ideally the competition is for spot no 4 only that too kkr look more probable to get there srh rcb chances are remote and rcb has two games against csk remember that

RR still have to win at least two matches from four games to ensure the playoff berth. This is t20, anything can happen. so they must stop this shuffles and try to win the game.

@ dummy4fb, my friend have you noticed that you are being so confident on RR team. here is some thoughts. 1. They have 10 points from ten games thanks to Kkr who choked twice against this team. 2. There is possibility of finishing top two in the league stage. It gives you another advantage. 3. If they keep trying new things in the upcoming matches just like the way they did against CSK. 4. Dhoni still unbeaten in the end along with jadeja. They would have chased it by the end of 19. but dhoni knows when to attack. Dhoni tried ashwin in the middle. vijay shankar is no mug with the bat. so its a comfortable win. 5. kkr just two points away from RR.

@srinideva I beg to differ here their experiment worked for major part of the game.Dhoni around last over finishes even the best bowler cant do anything about it.As you the said the mighty CSK had to huff and puff to score the 149 runs and Dhoni had to do the honors so get your facts right before saying something.I'd prefer Binny be benched today he has done well last season this season no performances at all from him and sending him ahead of smith faulkner doesnt make sense.Would love to see 2 changes in the line up from last game.Probably Rahane who has been a run machine can be benched for this game.Ankit Karun opening Watto at 3 sanju at 4 smithy faulkner cooper yagnik tambe two more indian bowlers.Rahane one match bench shall help him perform he has not scored runs eats deliveries so better bench him for a game

  • POSTED BY Siva_Bala75 on | May 15, 2014, 7:27 GMT

DD still can make it. Don't lose hope. The way KXIP and CSK are winning, not one but in fact two teams with just 12 points can make it to the play offs!

  • POSTED BY mjrvasu on | May 15, 2014, 7:13 GMT

SRH and DD are out of the game thanks to their captains. Lessons learned the very hard way.

RR want to experiment so why did they open with Ankit Sharma and not with Unmukt Chand I know Ankit is also a handy spinner but is Ankit Sharma a better batsman than Unmukt?RR have tried everyone to open except Unmukt why so?RR Playing XI should be something like this:- Unmukt,Rahane,Samson,Watson,Karun,Smith,Binny,Faulkner,Bhatia,Cooper,Tambe

  • POSTED BY on | May 15, 2014, 1:56 GMT

They should give Ben Cutting a shot over Faulkner now that Cooper has made his way into the team. It won't hurt RR's chances as Ben Cutting can be a match winner with the bat and It'll give some recharge time for Faulkner so that he can come back fresher and stronger during the business end of the tournament.

Quotes...yep sure can change the game quickly...48 off 4...game over. Should never have played on that small ground in a must win situation.. Licence to experiment...I hope DD do......as KP said "look to build for next year" First I would change the captain then drop de Koch , drop Tahir and start again. If they don't make changes then who in there right mind would want to support them again next year. Sponsors must be pulling their hair out. KP has been a huge disappointment both with his batting and captaincy. Also he must have had a big say in the selection process which has also been disappointing as has been pointed out by many over the last couple of weeks....Just hope they get it all together tonight.

RR should stop this madness of experimenting too much. Not sure how they could afford to bench Hodge for this long! Not sure how Yagnik would merit a place ahead of Sanju! Appalling tactics by Dravid, Watson and Co. Wake up, will ya? Halla bol halla bol.......

  • POSTED BY Nampally on | May 14, 2014, 19:49 GMT

KP has been dropping DD's 2 best & most economical bowlers - Parnell & Nadeem. DD bowling is poor without these 2 in the line up. KP's reliance on Imran Tahir is bit of a fantasy. Nadeem is accurate, experienced & has a consistently good record in the IPL DD need to replace Tahir with Parnell, as the 4th foreign player. This provides a good pace bowler in parnell + a good spinner in Nadeem. KP used Duminy for the first time in bowling & he did not disappoint him with best figures for DD. Duminy also contributed in batting to bring DD close to the RCB total. de Kock, KP, Jadhav, Karthick & Duminy can deliver runs at fast rate + Parnell, Duminy, Nadeem & 2 local seam bowlers can delver in bowling. But by including several unknown players, DD is making a hash of the XI. DD has a strong team but always pick wrong XI or ignore the talent of the guys in the XI. If Kirsten & KP focus on these 2 aspects, DD can win the next match.

Hattangadi: Samson needs to learn to score runs

Big picture

With 12 points from 10 games and a comfortable lead over the three teams vying for the fourth spot, Rajasthan Royals have a fair cushion. But they are still not through to the playoffs and a win against Daredevils could certainly ease their way, given that their next two matches are against Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab.

For a team that earned a reputation for slightly left-field tactics over the last couple of seasons, Royals have mostly stuck to the same combination this season. They experimented heavily against Chennai Super Kings and while their batting changes didn't click, their slower bowlers did run Super Kings close. To gain a lead over others, they may perhaps opt for a steadier order against Daredevils.

Daredevils, meanwhile, have a license to experiment and may just benefit from doing so, particularly with their batting order. A loss to Royals would bring an end to their chances, however technical, of making it to the last four and push them towards a second successive season at the bottom of the table.

Form guide (most recent first)

Rajasthan Royals: LWLWW
Delhi Daredevils: LLLLL

Where they stand

Rajasthan Royals: 3rd, with six wins in 10 games
Delhi Daredevils: Last, with two wins in 10 games

Previous encounter

Karun Nair's unbeaten 73 guided Rajasthan Royals to a seven-wicket win the last time the two teams met. It also set off Delhi Daredevils' four-loss streak at home this season.

Watch out for

After an unbeaten 48 in the first game, Stuart Binny's hasn't had too many runs. Batting at No. 5, he's come in mostly with the team needing quick runs and has fallen trying to fulfill his role of a hitter. But when the opportunity came, Binny couldn't capitalise, the case in point being the chase against Sunrisers Hyderabad where Royals capitulated.

Flourishing in the role of a finisher in the side, Kedar Jadhav has been stringing out delightful cameos towards the end of the innings. One of the most impressive batsmen for the franchise this season, there has been plenty of talk of pushing him up the order. Will Daredevils experiment against Royals?

Stats and trivia

  • Dinesh Karthik needs 56 more runs to fourth player to score 1000 IPL runs for Delhi Daredevils. Overall, he has 1036 runs for the franchise (including Champions League runs)
  • M Vijay, meanwhile, needs 80 more to score 3000 T20 runs.
  • Daredevils' highest score against Royals is 188, while their lowest is 87. Royals, on the other hand, have a highest of 192 and a lowest of 121 against Daredevils.

"They are an exciting option for the captain because they give you variations, can change the game quickly and are not loath to trying out different things despite the risk of being hit."
