For the second day in a row bad light stopped play early in Durban with the Titans on six without loss, a lead of 81 runs over the Dolphins. Pierre de Bruyn could only add 13 runs to his overnight score of 52 as the Titans to be bowled out for 274. Lance Klusener took 5 for 73 and also ended the Titans' innings with a well taken run-out. Imraan Khan (80) and Ahmed Amla (52) were all that stood between the Dolphins and total embarrassment as the left-arm spinner Paul Harris demolished the rest of the batting, taking 5 for 32, as they slumped to 199 all out.
Bad light also brought play to an early close in Johannesburg where Herschelle Gibbs struck 118 not out to set the platform for the Cobras. They ended on 231 for 5. Earlier in the day, the Lions finished their innings at 299 with Alan Dawson taking 4 for 60. The day, however, belonged to Gibbs as he hit 18 boundaries to all corners of The Wanderers.
In Port Elizabeth, a slight collapse saw the Eagles bowled out for 391 after having been 329 for 4. It was Morne van Wyk who kept the innings together, scoring 85. Lyall Meyer was responsible for the collapse - he took 4 for 97, and he was assisted by Justin Kreusch, who grabbed 3 for 58. A 118-run opening partnership between Mark Bruyns (54) and Carl Bradfield (67 not out) ensured that the Warriors ended the day at 153 for 1.
