Australia in Sri Lanka, 2011-12

Wisden's review of the fourth ODI, Sri Lanka v Australia in Sri Lanka, 2011-12

15-Apr-2012
At Colombo (RPS), August 20, 2011 (day/night). Australia won by five wickets. Toss: Sri Lanka. One-day international debut: S. Prasanna.
International cricket returned to Colombo for the first time since the World Cup, but Sri Lankan euphoria lasted as long as it took their batsmen to collapse to a pathetic 132, handing Australia the series with a match to spare. A Sri Lankan line-up that included Kulasekara at least one place too high at No. 7 looked vulnerable in advance, but a collapse of eight for 37 in 81 balls surpassed even their worst fears. Lee and Doherty - whose last ten one-day internationals had yielded only five wickets, but who triggered the slide by having Sangakkara caught at long-on - claimed four apiece. Some consolation was derived from the debut of leg-spinner Seekkuge Prasanna, who six days earlier had been confusing England Lions at Worcester with six for 23 for Sri Lanka A. He claimed three wickets in four balls, including Marsh - who made a classy 70 after replacing the out-of-touch Haddin at the top of the order - but it was no more than window dressing.
Man of the Match: X. J. Doherty.
