Barbados have won the West Indies Women's knock-out tournament for the first time, after beating St Vincent & The Grenadines in the final at St Lucia on Monday. St Vincent had the chance to do the league-and-cup double after winning the league the previous Friday, but Barbados denied them with a seven-wicket win at the Beausejour Stadium.
Shakera Selman took 4 for 21 off her ten overs with her medium pace to undo St Vincent after Barbados captain Charlene Taitt sent them in. Pamela Lavine, the West Indies international, took 3 for 18, as a hostile Barbados attack shot them out for just 103 inside 39 overs of a possible 50. Taitt also claimed 2 for 18 with her offspin. Sherre-Ann John topscored with 27, while the experienced Cordel Jack made just 10, her wicket an obvious boon.
Barbados needed just 28.4 overs to polish off their target, with the 14-year-old Kycia Knight keeping her young head to strike an unbeaten 51. Her knock included seven fours, and she was joined by Deandra Dottin, who made 22. Taitt then helped finished the job off, her 12 not out steering her side to victory - and the honours.
