Andrew Flintoff was stunned when he was presented with a car following his match-winning innings at the National Stadium in Karachi.
The England batsman who made 84 from 59 balls, including three heaving blows that went for six, received the man of the match award for his heroics and the keys to a brand new Daihatsu car.
For many, the innings was a mixture of formidable power and fine judgement and provided a sign that the 22 year-old Lancastrian is close to reaching his potential with the bat.
Flintoff himself said he was pleased with the innings which handed England victory with 17 balls to spare.
"It's something I've wanted to do and been threatening to do for a while -- win a match for England - and that's why I was so annoyed about getting out just before the end.''
"I'm pleased with it, it was a lovely track to bat on," he said.
"I just went out there and played my own game. It was nice to get a few in the middle of the bat.
"I haven't batted much on this tour so it was nice to get some runs."
Pakistan captain Moin Khan agreed with the verdict on Flintoff.
"It was one of the best one-day innings I've ever seen," he said.
"It was difficult for our bowlers to grip the ball because of the dew around and in the end I realised it was a wrong decision to bat first because of that."
