John Francis, Hampshire's 22-year old batsman, is to leave the county after deciding not to accept a new two-year contract. Southampton-born Francis who came through the Hampshire Academy scheme made his first class debut against Middlesex in 2001.
A product of Loughborough University, it is widly predicted that John will join his brother Simon at Somerset in the 2004 season.
Two other Hampshire players, pace-bowler Alex Morris and reserve wicket-keeper Iain Brunnschweiler, have not been offered contracts. Morris has been unable to regain full fitness since suffering a back injury at the start of last season.
Likeble Brunnschweiler always found it difficult to break into the first XI, especially after the arrive of Nic Pothas. He has been a pivitol figure in the 2ndXI success over the past few years, culminating as a member of the clubs ECB Trophy winning side last week.
The rest of the Hampshgire players are either under contract or have been offered new contracts.
