India handed out a severe 147-run drubbing to Pakistan to carry a 100% record into the final. Gaurav Dhiman continued his phenomenal tournament with a 40-ball 56 to give the Indian innings a flying start. Dhiman's blistering innings followed his back-to-back hundreds from the previous two matches. Cheteswar Pujara ensured his good work didn't to waste, lifting the total to 281 for 7, with a composed 80. Pakistan then had no answer to the Indian bowlers as wickets tumbled at regular intervals with the batsmen trying to maintain the stiff asking rate. They subsided to 134 all out in 34 overs and finished a disappointing fourth in the qualifying table.
Sri Lanka took second place in the table, setting up a final with India, but had a harder job seeing off Zimbabwe. They reached 220 - Sameera Soysa top-scoring with 46 - although against an attack that has struggled in the tournament they would have expected more. However, the Sri Lankan bowlers made sure there was no surprise defeat by restricted Zimbabwe to 165 all out.
Bangladesh completed a highly satisfactory tournament with an eight wicket thrashing of South Africa, who were knocked over for just 92. Showardhi Shuva took 3 for 6, Mehrab Hossain 3 for 7 before the Bangladesh batsmen eased home in under 17 overs. Their third place finish shows the young talent that is developing in Bangladesh - now only time will tell if it transfers to the next level.
