Oxford University secured their fourth straight Varsity Match victory at The Parks, completing a nine-wicket win over Cambridge University.
The game had seemed on course for a draw after both sides had batted without due alarms in their first innings. However, Oxford's spinner Mike Munday took 5 for 66 - giving him match figures of 11 for 143 - bowled Cambridge out for 187 in their second innings, and Oxford knocked off the 51 they needed with ease.
Oxford had declared on their overnight 450 for 7, and even though that gave them a lead of 137, there were no alarms as Cambridge reached 75 for 0 second time round. But then Munday and Nick Woods (3 for 46) got to work and only Grant Celliers, who made a battling 61 not out, enabled Cambridge to avoid an innings defeat.
Oxford raced to victory in ten overs, with Sal Oberoi, their captain who hit a hundred in the first innings, ending the match with two sixes and a four in one over from Ben Jacklin.
