Pakistan v South Africa, 2013-14

Wisden's review of the fourth ODI, Pakistan vs South Africa, 2013-14

15-Apr-2014
At Abu Dhabi, November 8, 2013 (day/night). South Africa won by 28 runs. Toss: South Africa. One-day international debut: Sohaib Maqsood.
After Steyn's return two days earlier, de Villiers had spoken of the game-changing intensity his premier fast bowler brought to the side. As he ripped through Pakistan's middle and lower order, changing this match in two spells, Steyn backed up his captain's assertion with career-best figures that secured South Africa an unexpected but merited series victory with a game to play. His second spell claimed the assured debutant Sohaib Maqsood after a sprightly fifty, and three more wickets in the 47th over killed off Pakistan's spirited chase. Steyn's performance rewarded another skilful batting performance, in which South Africa never let slip the start provided by de Kock and Amla. Put down on two by Mohammad Hafeez at slip, de Kock dropped anchor in his ninth one-day international, batting until the 43rd over for his maiden century for his country.
Man of the Match: D. W. Steyn.
