At Sharjah, February 17 (day/night). West Indies won by 110 runs. Toss: West Indies.
West Indies faced another dismal whitewash at 61 for four. But a stand of 154 between Hooper
and Chanderpaul was the springboard to a consolation win. They gathered their runs mainly in
singles and twos while they steadied the boat, then cut loose with 20 overs left. Hooper remained
unbeaten on 112 from 127 balls, hitting eight fours and four sixes in a characteristic arc between
extra cover and long-on. Once again, Pakistan's batsmen started poorly; this time, they were offered
no scope for recovery. The West Indian bowling was tight and their fielding mostly sharp. Ryan
Hinds was outstanding at point, with the highlight his direct hit to run out the dangerous Abdul
Razzaq - a dismissal momentarily in doubt when the TV umpire managed to switch on both lights
at once. Gayle cleaned up with four wickets in successive overs.
Man of the Match: C. L. Hooper.
Man of the Series: Abdul Razzaq.
