PAKISTAN v WEST INDIES 1991-92

At Lahore, November 22

15-Apr-1993
At Lahore, November 22. Tied. Toss: Pakistan. Needing two runs from Ambrose's last ball, Mushtaq Ahmed was run out returning for the second, as Richardson's throw came straight into the wicket-keeper's gloves. Although West Indies had lost fewer wickets, the match was tied under playing conditions agreed before the series. Put in by Pakistan, West Indies responded with another brisk opening partnership, and the innings was dominated by Haynes, fifth out for 69.
Pakistan were not far behind the asking-rate of 4.79 until Marshall's in-cutter bowled the 21-year-old newcomer Inzamam-ul-Haq in the 16th over. When Salim Malik was run out and Ramiz Raja caught one-handed by Williams, three wickets had fallen for one run in ten balls. Imran Khan steadied the innings, but went for 51 with 16 required from nine balls. This was ten by the last over, whose first two balls yielded Waqar Younis three runs. On the third Moin Khan was caught and bowled by Ambrose, but Waqar, who had crossed, then hit a four to long-on. A single from the fifth left Mushtaq to face the last ball. He hit it into the covers, but could only level the scores.
Man of the Match: D. L. Haynes.
