Ryan Hinds ruled out of VB Series

Ryan Hinds, the 23-year-old allrounder, has been forced out of the West Indies squad for the VB Series due to a groin injury which he suffered during the team's warm-up match against Victoria. Hinds will be replaced by the experienced Ricardo Powell, who has already played 102 one-day internationals and was part of the team which won the ICC Champions Trophy in September 2004.

Powell is expected to leave for Australia over the weekend, but might not make it in time for West Indies' last practice match, against Australia A on Sunday, January 9. Hinds, meanwhile, will stay on in Australia for treatment.

West Indies play their first match of the VB Series on January 14 against Australia.
