It took South Africa three overs to nab the remaining two Bangladesh wickets, as they romped to an easy win by an innings and 18 runs, thus winning the two-Test series 2-0.
South Africa began the day with the second new ball under overcast skies and the looming threat of rain. The last rites lasted thirteen minutes. First, Shaun Pollock induced an edge from Mohammad Salim (24) with a good-length ball outside off. Graeme Smith at second slip took the catch, after having dropped Salim one ball ago off a similar shot.
It was Pollock's first wicket of the innings, and he got his second one three balls later when he uprooted Mashrafe Mortaza's leg stump to end the match. Pollock finished with 2 for 21.
Mohammad Rafique, who took six wickets in South Africa's only innings, was declared Man of the Match. Jacques Rudolph, who made an unbeaten 222 in his debut Test innings in Chittagong, was Man of the Series.
