South Africa v Sri Lanka

At Benoni, December 1, 2002

15-Apr-2004
At Benoni, December 1, 2002. Sri Lanka won by seven wickets. Toss: Sri Lanka.
A stylish, unbeaten run-a-ball hundred from Atapattu, who ended the game with a six, guided Sri Lanka home and kept the series alive. Vaas and Lakshitha had made early inroads to reduce South Africa to 35 for four. Kallis put the innings back on course with 87 from 117 balls, and Klusener, who replaced Hall, bounced back into form. He clubbed 60 from 57 at the death, his first half-century for 12 one-day internationals. A target of 254 appeared competitive, but Atapattu joined forces with de Silva, who played industriously for his 71, and together they added 140 for the third wicket, paving the way for a comfortable win.
Man of the Match: M. S. Atapattu. Attendance: 6,156.
