Australia's Steven Smith plundered his fourth ODI ton to help his side thrash India by 95 runs to make the Final of World Cup 2015, where they will meet New Zealand on March 29.
Michael Clarke won the toss and chose to bat first and Australia lost opener David Warner in just the fourth over for 12. His departure brought Smith to the crease. Smith and Aaron Finch set about rebuilding the innings and they did so, in style.
They duo added 182 runs for the second wicket and pegged India on the back foot. Smith played aggressor in the stand as he raced to 105 from just 93 balls.
Smith's knock was a class above most of the batting in the game, and set Australia on the path to a match-winning 328 for 7.
India's openers, Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma, added 76 runs for the first wicket, before Dhawan departed and Virat Kohli followed two-runs later Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina then fell four-overs apart. India failed to recover from the sudden batting collapse and managed just 233 in reply.
"Certainly does [feel good], we thought 330 was around par, we had to bowl and field well, the boys did a terrific job, so hang on Melbourne. [Pleased with performance] Big stage tonight, semi-final of a World Cup, just nice to get over the line at the end. I always think of those people who've helped you along the way, really happy where everything at the moment and looking forward to Melbourne," Smith said.
