West Indies v Australia, Sixth One-day Inernational

At St George's, Grenada, May 30, 2003. West Indies won by three wickets. Toss: Australia.

As if to prove Trinidad was no fluke, West Indies did it again in Grenada in the most exciting game of the series. Despite several days' rest and relaxation before the game, the Australians still appeared jaded as they entered the last few days of a gruelling eight-month playing schedule. (To make matters worse, they arrived in Grenada without several items of kit, including bats, pads, shoes and sunglasses, stolen by a Trinidadian taxi driver.) But while their weariness may have contributed to some reckless batting - and they were making do without both Bevan and McGrath- nothing could detract from a brilliantly crafted undefeated 125 from Hinds which carried West Indies to a rousing triumph. Hinds, a late inclusion in the one-day squad after Chanderpaul withdrew with a broken finger, remained unflappable, despite taking 13 overs to reach double figures. He eventually exploded into an array of punishing strokes - including six sixes - and proved the difference between the teams.

Man of the Match: W. W. Hinds.
