Sri Lanka v Pakistan, 2012

A review of Sri Lanka v Pakistan, second Twenty20, 2012

15-Apr-2013
At Hambantota, June 3, 2012 (floodlit). Pakistan won by 23 runs.
Toss: Pakistan.
Pakistan, lesson learned from their debacle in the first match, adopted a cautious approach and crawled to 40 for three at the halfway mark. Shahid Afridi's late hitting enabled them to reach a defendable score, although he needed two huge strokes of luck to remain unbeaten: Dilshan, of all people, dropped a sitter at deep midwicket when he had 41; then the last ball of the innings, from Kulasekara, brushed leg stump without dislodging a bail. The promotion of Kulasekara to No. 3 failed as Yasir Arafat struck twice in his second over, and Afridi and Saeed Ajmal soon suffocated the middle order. None of the Sri Lankans reached 20, and they missed Mahela Jayawardene, rested as the captaincy passed to Mathews for the first time.
Man of the Match: Shahid Afridi. Man of the Series: Sohail Tanvir.
