Zimbabwe v Holland

At Bulawayo, February 28, 2003

15-Apr-2004
At Bulawayo, February 28, 2003. Zimbabwe won by 99 runs. Toss: Holland.
Two spectators, one black, one white, who unfurled a banner reading "Zimbabwe Needs Justice" - and, once out of camera shot, were led away by the police - put any heroics on the field in stark perspective. Not that there were many. Andy Flower caressed, glided and reverse-swept his way to 71, an artist among artisans; and Blignaut and Streak biffed a very biffable attack, both scoring freely as Zimbabwe flicked on the afterburners and blazed 165 in the last 20 overs. In reply, Holland never looked like getting the win that would have smoothed England's path to the Super Six. Van Bunge and Lefebvre played a sprinkling of boisterous shots, but the biggest cheer was for Henry Olonga - now emerging as cricket's conscience, and fielding as substitute in place of his co-protester, Andy Flower.
Man of the Match: H. H. Streak. Attendance: 4,850.
