Carib Brewery will enter their fifth and final year of sponsorship of the regional cricket tournament next year when the 2007 Carib Beer Series begins in January and Colin Murray, Carib's Sponsorship and Events manager, was very optimistic about the negotiations for a new sponsorship deal.

Speaking at the launch of the 2007 Series at Crowne Plaza Hotel, Murray noted the importance of corporate sponsorship of sports and support from the government and individuals in the promotion and development of sports.

Carib have played an active part in the development of cricket throughout the region, taking the sport to rural and non-traditional cricketing territories, Murray pointed out. First Class cricket has been introduced to St Thomas in the US Virgin Islands, St Maarten and Tortola in the British Virgin Islands.

"There is still a lot of work that Carib wants to do towards the revival of West Indies cricket, and Carib is well known, not for promoting beer, but also for the fact that we never leave anything undone, and we would like to continue to work with the West Indies Cricket Board to improve the game on the field of play; committed to bringing the fans back out to regional cricket," added Carib CEO Andrew Sabga.
