23.1 to DA Warner, big appeal for leg-before. Umpire Gould's finger goes up - this would have carried on to hit leg stump. No inside snick and Warner decides against a review. Amir returns and provides Pakistan with the breakthrough. Full inswinger from Amir, starts outside off, Warner shuffles a long way across off and shows his leg stump. Plays around his front pad and is trapped in front of middle, just below the knee-roll. He falls over too. The tracker shows it was just clipping the outside of the leg stump. 70/1 109.4 to MS Wade, Azhar clings onto this catch in front of his mid-riff. Wade also falls caught behind. Back of a length and holds its line wide outside off; probably on a set of stumps outside off. Wade's bat comes down at an angle. He has a back-foot force at it and edges it behind to third slip. 342/6 111.5 to MA Starc, Smart overhead catch from Shafiq at first slip. Short of a length and outside off, Starc flashes at it. Sends a thick outside edge flying behind. Shafiq collects it, two wickets in two overs for Amir. 354/7 118.6 to JR Hazlewood, Another excellent overhead catch from Shafiq at first slip. Dug in short and wide outside off, Hazlewood too slashes an outside edge behind. Shafiq keeps his eyes on the fast-travelling ball. Moves to his left, leaps, and snaffles it. There are Amir's best figures since his comeback. 380/8

24.4 to UT Khawaja, Khawaja falls into the leg-side trap. Hits it right into the lap of Misbah at short midwicket. Yasir hugs his captain. Pakistan have turned things around with two wickets in 10 balls. Pushed through on leg stump, Khawaja dances out takes a full ball, and whips it in the air, even though he is not close to the pitch of it. Fails to place it properly. Misbah did not even have to budge. 75/2 130.1 to NM Lyon, Yasir finally breaks the last-wicket stand. He finishes with only two wickets. Could have had four or even five. Australia have been dismissed for 429. Tossed up higher, Lyon flicks, but can't keep it down. Shafiq pouches another catch, this one simpler than the ones at slips. Taken at midwicket. 429/10

43.2 to MT Renshaw, seven straight dots from Wahab to the Renshaw, and he nabs him off the eighth. Nice and full, angled into the left-hander, and then straightens away in the air. Renshaw is only halfway forward. He has a waft at it and nicks it behind to the keeper. To his credit, Renshaw did not throw his hands at the line. Just enough movement to graze the outside edge. He had been very sure of his off stump until this ball. Ironic, he falls edging behind in the channel. 151/3 99.4 to SPD Smith, Edged and taken by Sarfraz. Smith has to go now. He raises his bat and acknowledges the crowd. Back of a length and slanting away wide outside off. Smith has a wild slash at it with no feet and nicks it behind to the keeper. Wahab breaks the 172-run stand. 323/4 103.3 to NJ Maddinson, Wahab strikes again. Maddinson adds only one to his tally after being dropped at short leg. His first two Test scores do not read pretty: 0, 1. Back of a length and outside off, kicks up and away from the left-hander off the pitch. The Gabba track has quickened up on the second day. He fends at it feebly, sticking his bat out on the back foot, and feeds an edge to the keeper. The drink will taste sweeter for Pakistan. 334/5 119.1 to PSP Handscomb, chopped on. Two wickets in two balls after tea. Wahab slants it in from around the wicket. Back of a length and angled in on off and middle. Handscomb aims to run it down to third man. He only plays on and the leg bail is flipped off. 380/9

4.1 to Azhar Ali, full, angled across Azhar from over the wicket, and bounces. He has a loose poke with no feet and nicks it behind. Khawaja dives low to his left from third slip and somehow clings on, inches from the ground. Graps it in front of Smith at second slip. Excellent reflex catch. 6/1 28.3 to Asad Shafiq, good length and angled across Shafiq. He has a crease-bound waft and edges it to third slip. Khawaja pouches it moving to his left. All five Pakistan batsmen have been out edging behind. 54/5 34.1 to Yasir Shah, length ball holds its line outside off, from around the wicket, kicks up off the surface. Hits Yasir high on the bat. The batsman jabs at it and offers a catch to Khawaja at third slip. Chest-high grab. 67/8

19.4 to Babar Azam, Hazlewood returns and takes down Azam. He had left the previous ball, flashes at this one. Full and wide, on a set of stumps outside off, and nips away further. Azam drives hard, throwing his bat at the ball. Grazes the outside edge, and Smith turns his body into a side-on position, and collects it to his right at second slip. Tucks the ball up beside his chest. Good take. 43/2 19.5 to Younis Khan, Younis bags a golden duck. Thin edge behind to the keeper. Excellent delivery from Hazlewood. Nice and full, angled in, and straightens away late outside off. Younis is tricked into defending for the angle. He only feathers behind. He does not cover the movement. Major blow for Pakistan. Younis' last six Test scores: 0, 2, 1, 2, 11, 0. 43/3 33.5 to Wahab Riaz, Pakistan seven down. Hazlewood has his third. Soft, soft dismissal. Length ball on off stump, bounces. Wahab looks to play it across the line. He ends up offering a dolly back to the bowler via a leading edge. 66/7

26.5 to Misbah-ul-Haq, Bird now coxes the outside edge, which is well held by Renshaw at first slip. Full and outside off, Bird finds awayswing. Misbah is lured into driving away from the body. He follows the curve of the awayswinger. Pakistan stutter to 48 for 4. 48/4 29.4 to Sami Aslam, Aslam walks down and across the off stump and exposes the leg stump. He loses his patience. Bird angles a full ball down the leg side. Aslam glances and does not get enough bat on it. Tickles it down leg to Wade. Australia's quicks are razing Pakistan's batting line-up under lights at the Gabba. The opener falls off his 100th ball. 56/6 50.4 to Mohammad Amir, big appeal. No says the umpire. Steven Smith reviews. Bird has no idea. But there is a huge blotch on the inside edge. Bird was getting some movement in the over, this one nips back in from a good length. Amir is cut in half, and the ball snicks the inside edge. Just a faint edge, but very discernible. Amir cannot believe the decision. Hit the bat and the elbow on its way to the keeper, that's what Amir would have felt. Definitely out. RTS confirms the edge with a spike when ball passes bat. Good review from Australia. 121/9

2.2 to DA Warner, Warner goes. Shortish delivery outside off, Warner looks to belt that through midwicket but is beaten by some pace and some bounce. All he can do is bunt his pull to mid-on. Came more off the splice. Not too many times Warner is hustled for pace. Not much lateral movement, but not an easy pitch to execute that stroke. 12/1
10 | 1 | 40 | 2 | 4.00 | 41 | 5 | 0 | 0 | 0 | |
5.4 to MT Renshaw, superb delivery from Rahat Ali. Goes slightly wide of the crease, the ball pitches on leg and shapes away. Renshaw sees an opportunity to clip through the leg side but he is squared up by just enough lateral movement. Gets a thick outside edge which is comfortably taken at second slip, Younis bending down and taking it by his chest. Renshaw was in trouble once he decided to whip the ball, instead of use the straight bat face. 24/2 36.5 to UT Khawaja, fantastic catch from Misbah at mid-on. Good length on middle, Khawaja is looking to pull that through midwicket, but is rushed into his stroke. A lot like how Warner was. Can only manage to splice it away, but it looks like it's safe. Misbah keeps his eyes on it through the ball's trajectory. His young legs get him across, he dives to his left and takes a quality two-handed take. Quality innings from Khawaja. 188/4

29.4 to SPD Smith, chipped into the hands at long-on. Flat delivery outside off, Smith comes down and wanted to hit that through midwicket but got a thick leading edge. Flew into the hands of long-on, who took an easy reverse-cupped catch. Enterprising as ever from Smith. 135/3
7 | 1 | 47 | 1 | 6.71 | 24 | 8 | 0 | 0 | 1 | |
37.5 to NJ Maddinson, taken. Maddinson falls for another single-digit score. They're checking for a no-ball, but Wahab is juuuust fine. A well-directed bouncer on off and middle, Maddinson goes after his pull. He's hustled for pace, but doesn't improvise his shot. Gets a leading edge which flies down to Azhar at fine leg. A horror start to his Test career. 199/5

11.3 to Sami Aslam, taken at first slip! A grin from ear to ear on Renshaw's face as his buckets take one just in front of his face. He was brought in play, of course, by Starc pitching the ball up and inviting the drive. Odd shot from Aslam, considering his reputation as a man who knows his off stump and leaves for days on end if he could.. 31/1 59.6 to Azhar Ali, gone! Starc strikes. That was the plan all along. But this was bowled after quite a few pitched on a good length. Takes Azhar by surprise slightly. All he manages to do is get inside the line and glove it through to the keeper in an attempt to work the ball to fine leg. Not a good stroke, but it's the line that undid him. Attacking those ribs on a short length. End of a resolute knock. 145/3 87.3 to Sarfaraz Ahmed, goes straight through this time. Full and swinging back in. Sarfraz was struggling with that through the over. This time, it is full and unplayable. Quick too. Starc pitches this up, and gets it to move back in. Not a lot but just enough. Sarfraz brings his bat down from a45 degree angle and the ball goes through a huge gap between bat and pad. Cleans up the stumps, the zing bails make for a lovely sight. 220/6 144.2 to Asad Shafiq, snorter from Starc. And Australia strike. Is that the delivery that changes this Test match? The front foot is fine. Australia are pumped. Goes wide of the crease from around the wicket and directs his bouncer at Shafiq's badge. The key to that delivery was the length. It wasn't pitched too short. More a back of a length, but he was aided by the bounce in this pitch. Shafiq felt he can play instead of duck. It takes the glove and shoulder of the bat and lobs to Warner at gully who backtracks, takes a two-handed overhead catch and throws the ball miles in the air. Sensational delivery to end an even better innings. Fantastic stuff from Shafiq.. 449/9

69.5 to Misbah-ul-Haq, edged and taken. Goes fishing does Misbah and he gets caught in the trap. Bird just hangs it out there, back of a length outside off. Misbah offers a loose prod at the ball, no intention of scoring. The ball kisses the outside edge and settles in Wade's gloves. Just a thin nick. Just reward for some nagging accuracy from Bird. 165/4 106.4 to Mohammad Amir, edged. Looked like it was the offcutter, or he just rolled his fingers across it. Sensible bowling. A full delivery outside off, Amir gets forward and looks to defend into the off side. But that ball moves away juuust enough because of the cut and kisses the outside edge. Relief on the Australian players' faces. Lovely cameo from Amir, his best Test innings. 312/7 122.3 to Wahab Riaz, and taken. The tentativeness of the final over has caused Wahab's dismissal. A good length delivery outside off, Wahab comes forward but is then pushed back by the shorter length. He offers a loose waft at the ball, a thick outside edge flies low to Smith's left at second slip. He dives and hangs on this time. Against the run of play.. 378/8

26.2 to Babar Azam, edged and taken! Ironic. Two deliveries after the ball was changed, Azam gets a nick and is taken at slip. This has nothing to do with his concentration. The previous one was spinning all over the place. Both with this new ball haven't spun at all. It skids on with the arm, takes the outside edge and flies to Smith at hip height. Azam, was playing for some turn. Very unfortunate, after so much hardwork. C'est la vie.. 54/2 74.3 to Younis Khan, given. The reverse-sweep and Younis top-edges that to slip. A flat delivery on off and middle, Younis, it seemed, premeditated that stroke. Got low and looked to paddle that fine. That isn't an easy stroke with the bounce in this pitch. Takes the glove or the top edge and lobs into his forearm before ballooning to Smith at first slip.. 173/5
