The Emirates Cricket Board will host a women's Twenty20 tournament by the end of this month.
"This is part of our plans to attract women into the game at the grass-root level. We want to create as much opportunities for the women to play the game," Mazhar Khan, the administrator of the ECB, said. "This tournament will be held as soon as the school examinations get over. This event will be open for all schools, clubs and cricket academies."

The Uganda Cricket Association executive meet to discuss their calendar and other programmes. The new executive of Dr Kato Ssebbaale shelved all local programmes during the two-week tour of Uganda by the MCC. "Now that visitors have left, we want to concentrate on our local programmes," said Davis Turinawe, the local association’s organising secretary. The meeting discussed tournaments like Luswata Cup and the national league.

The MCC ended their Uganda tour with two emphatic wins over Kenya's Under-19 side. The games were originally scheduled to have been played in Nairobi but were rearranged at Kampala's Kyambogo Oval as a result of Kenya's political unrest following December's presidential elections.

Warren Deutrom, the chief executive of the Irish Cricket Union, has warned that a failure to qualify for the next World Cup will have a seriously detrimental affect on leading Associates.
"Non-qualification for two out of the existing six ODI countries will have a materially detrimental effect on the profile of the sport in that country, therefore ability to attract finance, therefore ability to attract (and pay for) top teams to visit, therefore ability to tour abroad to play competitive cricket,, therefore ability to move forward on and off the pitch."

The ICU have announced a 14-man squad for the Under-15 Clico International tournament in West Indies which starts on April 19 and runs for two weeks.
Hugh MacDonnell from Leinster will captain the side and Ben Wylie from Instonians is the vice-captain. There are eight countries participating in firstly a knockout competition, followed by an international championships, which has been split into two groups.
Ireland have been given a tough draw, facing Pakistan in the knockout phase, while they are drawn with West Indies, Bangladesh and Kenya in the group stages.

The Tuscaloosa News in Florida reports on the new cricket stadium in Broward County.
The 5,000 blue stadium seats are in place. So are the special cameras embedded in the equipment to get close ups of the action. Then there is the exquisite field - emerald and manicured. But this $70 million park wasn't built for baseball or football - it's the first in the U.S. built primarily for cricket.
The sport, which enjoys worldwide popularity but has long struggled to gain an American following, has taken root in South Florida because of its large Caribbean population. Fans and officials say the stadium offers their community a chance to draw professional players, cultivate youth programs and attract new fans to the game.
"There's a tremendous awaking," said Chandradath Singh, a Broward County parks special projects coordinator. "And a major interest."

There will be a serious challenge to the existing Gladstone Dainty-led USA Cricket Association administration at next month's executive board elections.
Cricinfo has learned that a group of senior administrators is standing against the existing board and has already gained the backing of several regions. Sources suggest that they have the support of the majority of the regional presidents.
California's Ram Varadarajan is lined up to oppose Dainty as president. Varadarajan would not only bring his passion for cricket to the post but he has considerable business acumen as president and CEO of Arcot Systems, an authentication software company based in Sunnyvale, California. He is backed by John Aaron, a well-known and respected figure inside US cricket circles, as secretary and John Thickett as treasurer.
The group has already underlined its credentials by launching a slick website outlining who they are and what they stand for. This is in direct contrast to the moribund USACA site which has become almost legendary for its lack of any meaningful information to stakeholders.

MCC drew their three-day match against the Ugandan national XI, but it was a heartening performance from the home side. Uganda made 220 in their first innings with last season’s Middlesex spin pairing of Jamie Dalrymple and Chris Peploe sharing eight wickets. A strong MCC side was expected to take a lead, but in the end it took an unbeaten 68 from Bilal Shafyat to steer them to 193. Uganda reached 195 for 7 before declaring and setting MCC a target of 223 in 47 overs. They lost quick early wickets and settled on playing out time.
