Bangladesh 191 for 7 (Emon 100, Jawadullah 4-21) beat UAE 164 (Waseem 54, Asif 42, Mahmud 3-33, Mustafizur 2-17, Tanzim 2-22, Mahedi 2-55) by 27 runs
Parvez Hossain Emon smashed a 53-ball hundred to lead Bangladesh to 191 for 7 and set up a 27-run win for a 1-0 lead in the two-T20I series against UAE in Sharjah on Saturday. Big hits from Muhammad Waseem, Rahul Chopra and Asif Khan meant that UAE make a good fist of the chase, but clever death bowling from Mustafizur Rahman, who is headed for IPL 2025, gave Bangladesh victory.
Parvez's century was only the second by a Bangladeshi in T20Is after Tamim Iqbal had scored an unbeaten 103 against Oman in the 2016 T20 World Cup. Parvez also set the Bangladesh record for most sixes in a T20I innings, hitting nine, beating Rishad Hossain's seven against Sri Lanka last year.

Fuller tops up Hampshire as Warwickshire let advantage slip

Ed Barnard, Olly Hannon-Dalby share seven wickets but hosts stumble in final session

Warwickshire 27 for 2 trail Hampshire 300 (Fuller 52*, Barnard 4-56) by 273 runs
Lower-order resistance led by James Fuller lifted Hampshire to 300 all out after their batting fragility had surfaced again on the opening day of their Rothesay County Championship game against Warwickshire at Edgbaston.
Bowled out twice for under 200 in last week's 366-run defeat to Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge, Hampshire this time dipped to 130 for 5 and 223 for 8 before Fuller's bullish 52 not out from 52 balls marshalled the addition of 77 for the last two wickets.

Grant Stewart's belligerent 173* brings Kent back from the brink

Unbroken stand of 249 with Chris Benjamin lifts visitors from trouble at 137 for 6

Kent 386 for 6 (Stewart 173*, Benjamin 82*, Singh Dale 4-97) vs Gloucestershire
Grant Stewart posted a brilliant swashbuckling hundred to inspire a notable Kent fightback on the opening day of the Rothesay County Championship match against Gloucestershire at the Seat Unique Stadium in Bristol.
Their backs firmly against the wall after being reduced to 137 for 6, the visitors were indebted to the seventh-wicket pair of Stewart and Chris Benjamin, who staged a revitalising unbeaten stand of 249 in 56 overs to rescue a parlous situation. Stewart registered a career-best score of 173 not out from 174 balls with 19 fours and five sixes, while Benjamin contributed a cautious yet chanceless 82 not out, hewn from 212 deliveries with five fours, as Kent reached the close on 386 for 6.

Bairstow sparkles for Yorkshire before Surrey battle back

Skipper falls short of hundred as visitors finish opening day in ascendancy at Headingley

Surrey 46 for 0 trail Yorkshire 255 (Bairstow 89, Lyth 55, Clark 3-31, Lawes 3-77) by 209 runs
Captain Jonny Bairstow made a sparkling 89 and Adam Lyth passed fifty for the sixth time this season, but Yorkshire squandered a promising position on the first day against Surrey.
For the 16th Rothesay County Championship game in a row at the Kia Oval the side who won the toss bowled first, but at 203 for five just before tea, with Bairstow at his attacking best, Yorkshire were in the ascendancy on a typically green-tinged pitch offering some seam movement and good carry.

Luke Wells century helps to ease Lancashire's woes

Matty Hirst makes 51 as rock-bottom hosts recover from another ropey start

Lancashire 250 for 5 (Wells 141, Hurst 51, Aitchison 3-51) vs Derbyshire
Luke Wells' first century of the season soothed Lancashire's current pain and helped them just about shade the opening day of their Rothesay County Championship match against Derbyshire at Emirates Old Trafford.
The home side's players began the day at the bottom of Division Two and with their director of cricket Mark Chilton's warning that he would make the changes necessary to get their season "back on track" fresh in their minds.
