Pakistan doping scandal
Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif tested positive for the banned performance-enhancing steroid nandrolone in October 2006, just before the Champions Trophy. After a tribunal hearing, Shoaib was banned for two years and Asif for one. They were then acquitted and their bans overturned on appeal by a review committee in December.
