For many years Benzie was Israel's most economical bowler in ICC and ECC Tournaments, returning economy rates of under three an over. Apart from his naggingly consistent offbreaks he had the ability to take apart a bowling attack, despite batting in the lower order. In 1997 he scored 76 batting at No. 9 against a powerful South African Maccabi team boasting five provincial players. Benzie played for the enigmatic Neveh Yontan side from Ashdod.
